They have a lady there that cooks for the hunters, and they had us a spread of grandma's country cooking every time we came out of the woods. It was a treat! There were two other men there with us that had been invited along with Scott. They were brothers, and they were hilarious! They really made the trip fun too.
OK, so for those of you that are "non-hunters" I'll keep the story short and sweet...I killed a HOG and Scott killed a doe!!!!! (If you want all the details, go to our Hunting blog)
This was my my second bow kill ever. I was SO EXCITED!!! I killed him at about 4:15 Tuesday evening...I stayed in my stand until dark and then we all went back into the woods to find him! Once we found him, he was a lot bigger than I thought he was! Man, it was fun!!!
Scott killed his doe Thursday morning. He put a perfect shot on her!!
And check this out...they had a young buck there that was tame..and guess what they called him - Buckey!!!! ha!! The first time we saw him we were just coming in from an evening hunt and I was standing on the porch taking off my boots. I just happened to look to the left and he was RIGHT THERE! It about scared me to death!! The brothers started laughing (they had already been told about Buckey!) He was so funny. He would just walk right up into the lodge and walk around. The last night we were there, he started getting a little frisky, butting us with his little spikes...one time he even stood up on his back legs pawing at Scott...I got that on camera!!!
