Bow Season - OPEN

Deer camp.... peaceful.... easy....

I had a nice first weekend back at deer camp. I didn't do any hunting, but it was a good relaxing weekend. I couldn't believe it, but I slept until almost 10:30! Scott worked all day Saturday on food plots and such. It was so quiet out there, nothing to do but relax (I was actually also working on homework intermittently here and there - 3 lab reports due Wednesday). I considered hunting Saturday afternoon, but I was getting so much done on homework I decided to just stay back at camp.

Since I decided not to hunt, Scott decided to go hang a few deer stands....he wasn't gone long when he pulled back up to the camp and said, "load up, we're leaving."

He hadn't had very good luck all day....and he'd finally had enough!

See anything missing from this picture???

....yeah....the BACK TIRE!!! That's where it started....he was riding down a trail, heard a POP and then looked back and his back tire was rolling away. The axle completely broke. He had to walk 2 miles back to his truck. That's when he came back to camp to get me. As he was hooking up the trailer to his truck, he noticed he had a FLAT on the trailer!

Since he's ALWAYS prepared, he had 2 cans of fix-a-flat. That held long enough to get us to town. When we got to town, we stopped to get gas and then as he was backing the trailer up next to the air...the tire came completely off the rim! ugh!!!

Even though he was VERY tired and frustrated at this point...he kept his cool! There was only one thing to do at this point....one call, thats all....DAD to the rescue! His dad drove all the way across Jackson to bring us a spare ! While we waited, we had a pizza supper at the gas station!

When we finally got home, we unpacked the truck...I gave Scott a much needed hair cut...and then it was straight to bed!

Deer season...begun....
