Celebrating a life, celebrating one year

Its been a hard weekend, but LuLu's funeral was beautiful. Visitation was held at her home- a common practice, I learned, from back in the old days. If you knew my grandmother, it couldn't have been more fitting for her. She and my grandfather, Big Daddy, have touched so many people in the Batesville community. Batesville will truly never be the same without her, and for our family it's a change that is going to take years to get adjusted to.

Scott and I celebrated our first anniversary today! Mom and Dad saved the top of our wedding cake for us to have on our first anniversary - and it still tasted like it did the day we got married!

Scott had arranged for us to spend the night in Crystal Springs at an 1850's mansion that is now a bed and breakfast, but with Lulu's death he got it arranged for us to go next weekend instead. It was a total surprise to me when he told me what he had planned! He is so sweet! Its been a great year...and I look forward to many, many more.

On our one-year anniversary, I weighed nearly 200 pounds (nearing Corin's due date) and I ate a rack and a half of ribs, and then we came home to eat our frozen cake that tasted like the freezer. mmmmm...
