Since it was such a pretty day outside I opened the back door while I cooked. I like to do that and let the animals come and go as they please. So here is the scene....
They both ran past me and the baby squirrel made a B-line underneath the oven. From there....he disappeared. And Moses was VERY confused!! This whole time, I'm on the phone with my mom...screaming like a girl, "Moses is chasing a RAT....no..its a baby squirrel...oooohhhhh..they just ran into the house!!!"
It all happened so fast I didn't have time to think to shut the door....and now here I was....still stuff to be cooked in my kitchen....and a baby squirrel loose....possibly under the cabinets...the same cabinets I would be standing RIGHT next too should I choose to continue cooking.
I got off the phone with Mom and promptly called Scott to tell him to, "hurry up and get here!" I stood at the door watching the kitchen floor to make sure he didn't go anywhere else...
When Scott walked in the house...he was already laughing....it would have been much more funny if I knew where the thing was!!!
He preceded to pull the oven out from the counter....and... NO SQUIRREL! We debated on how much we wanted to tear up the cabinets trying to find this little varmint...Scott's vote was leave him in there...my vote was rip out every cabinet until we found him. Scott won.
And we have YET to find the thing. No joke.
After that...I decided to take a break from cooking and go outside and work for a while! I planted some perennials that I had gotten last weekend but didn't want to plant until after that cold snap in the middle of the week.
I got everything planted and then we spread the pine straw....and it looked SO GOOD!!! FINALLY!! The front bed looks like a real....finished...front bed!! For the first time since I've lived at this house (I'm ashamed to say) the front flowerbed looked like a real bed! I'm such a tight wad...I never wanted to spend the money, I guess.
Every time I pull in the driveway I go REAL slow and admire the beds all the way down the drive-way!! The plants we planted back in the fall are still small....but I've noticed over the past couple weeks they've gotten a lot of new growth on them. Once my Begonia get bigger, its gonna look so good!! It could still use some more plants to fill in some...but I don't know exactly how big those bushes are gonna get. You know Mrs. Frugal got the tiniest bushes she could find. After we planted them last fall, you couldn't even see them from the street! ha!!
But, its a start...and it definitely looks better!!!!!!
When I left Bass Pro, I ran a few errands and then headed back home. Scott had grilled steaks and had supper all ready when I got home! What an awesome treat!!
It was a great Saturday. Slept in with the hubs. Beautiful weather. Got a lot done. Met up with a girl friend for coffee and chats....almost a perfect Saturday....except for the squirrel.
