Scott and I are having a BLAST here in Gatlinburg as Mr. and Mrs Berry!!! As I sit upstairs in our cabin next to the floor-to-ceiling window, I'm watching the snowflakes falling! Our view of the mountains is absolutely breathtaking! This has been the perfect week to top off a perfect wedding. God gave us perfect weather for our wedding day. There is not one thing I would have changed about the whole day. Thanks so much to all of you that came to celebrate with us. It meant so much to us to have all of you there. And to those that we didn't get to speak to, we are so sorry. Our time at the reception just flew by - it seemed like we were only there 15 minutes.
We drove to Burmingham our first night, or actually on the outskirts of Burmingham, Hoover. We stayed at the Ross Bridge Resort - this place was incredible!! It was like we were in Scotland or something!!! Here is the link to check it out: http://www.rossbridgeresort.com/ The coolest part, and we didnt even know this until we got there - the guy that built this place was a Scottish guy. The little brochure in our room even had a picture of a guy playing the bagpipes! It was just too perfect a fit for us to stay there after having bagpipes at our wedding. And then to top it off in the bathroom there was Lavender flavored soap - in case you werent at the wedding - everyone threw lavender buds at us as we left the church. The whole day was like a theme that just kept going!!
We got to Gatlinburg about 4:00 on Sunday, got checked in and then went to the grocery store to stock up our kitchen. Monday afternoon we went to downtown Gatlinburg and walked around, went to the Aquarium, rode the sky lift, and ate at the Hard Rock Cafe. All of our pictures either have just me, or just Scott, or are a close up of our faces with Scott's arm sticking out to hold the camera....except for we did find someone at the top of the sky lift to take our picture with the mountains in the background!
Tuesday we ended up sticking around the cabin all day. There's a pool table upstairs that we have been enjoying...and there are three big flat screen TVs too...so we have been finding lots of movies to watch...and of course I fall asleep at the beginning of everyone of them! We TRIED to play the Play Station too, but there are at least 20 buttons on each control - it was hilarious trying to play football and not knowing what in the heck you were doing!
Wednesday, Valentine's Day, we woke up to a wintery white morning! It was beautiful!! I was so hoping it would snow while we were here - so it couldn't have been more perfect. The drive-way getting up to the cabin is at least a 60 degree slope...so we didn't even try to leave the cabin at the beginning of the day. About 2:00 we went walking around outside, had a miniature snowball fight, and decided maybe the road was good enough to try to get out for the evening. We left and went driving around Pigeon Forge, and drove around until we found a mall, or store we wanted to stop at. It was SOO COLD!! We had fun just doing some leisurely shopping. Then we came back to the cabin and Scott grilled steaks for us!!
We still have lots we want to do, but we are running out of time. We wanted to go hiking at the National Forest - we've heard of a couple places that have an awesome view at the end! We also wanted to go to Ober Gatlinburg and go skiing...but since its snowing this morning we don't know when we will be able to get out...but that's OK too! I could stay in this cabin for a week and never get board. I wish I could move it home with me!!
Well, thanks again for all your prayers and support through the wedding. More later...
