CHAPTER 3
The day of our first date…and of course its raining...I meant to say....POURING....and there is NO taming my hair!! Scott called when he was on his way to pick me up to get directions to my house. He shows up right on time with flowers behind his back!! Hmmmmm, I can still picture how cute he looked! We sat in my kitchen for awhile talking and waiting to see if the rain would slow down a bit. We finally decided to go ahead and leave after about 45 minutes, and as we were leaving and were about to walk out of the garage…out of no where he pops up this umbrella!! HOW SWEET!!! He had brought it with him and had it waiting in the garage for when we left!!! Is that thoughtful or what!!!! He took me to eat at a nice restaurant in Jackson called Catherine’s. As we were sitting there, he told me to tell him something about myself that he didn’t already know….geez, I hate questions like that…I ALWAYS go blank!!! The only thing I could think of right off hand was that I have a thing for hands and feet...I LIKE 'EM! Of all things to tell someone on a first date!! Ha!! Ha!! After we got done eating he took me to Tinseltown to watch a movie. We had planned on watching either End of the Spear or Narnia but neither one was still playing, so instead we watched Last Holiday instead. About three-fourths the way through the movie he leaned over and whispered in my ear, “For someone who like hands, do you like to HOLD hands?” I replied with a big grin, “Yep!” What had he been waiting for!!! (Just kidding!! Usually I dont get to the holding hands stage atleast until after 4 or 5 dates!!...but he was obviously a special case!!!) After the movie he took me home and walked me to the door. The whole night was surreal…I couldn’t believe that two weeks ago I was alone and had no one in sight…and now I had just been on a date with someone who seemed too good to be true!!! I could hardly go to sleep that night.....

Ring-Ring….Ring-Ring….no, it wasn’t the alarm clock…it was Scott Berry…calling my cell phone at 8:30 Saturday morning!!! Of course he asks, “I didn’t wake you up did I?” He was calling to see if he could come pick me up and take me to the Waffle House for breakfast! How sweeeeeet!! I told him to give me 30 minutes and I could be ready!! I jumped up and got dressed and he came to pick me up in that "big nasty" truck of his.....and I was LOVIN' every minute of it!!

We spent the whole day together just doing errands around town. He had to go to Home Depot to pick up some mortar for his tiling job at home, we went by the Bible Bookstore….then he took me to see his house…it was SOOO cute!!! I talked him into finishing his tile job in his bathroom floor so I could watch….I just sat and watched while he worked….I soaked up every move he made and watched every detail. By this time it was mid afternoon and time to go home and get ready for the rodeo that night! He took me back home and we called Martha Margaret to see where we were going to meet to eat before the rodeo. As we were sitting at my kitchen table and thumbing through the yellow pages for ideas on where to eat…I kept looking up at him…wondering, "Could this REALLY be him??" I think at that very moment I was falling in love. As we were desperately trying to decide on a place to eat that night, I remember asking him where he wanted to eat, and with the most tender voice he said, “I don’t care, Baby..wherever you want to eat”…I literally got chills all over when I heard him call me Baby!

Once we finally decided we would meet at Chili’s, Scott left to go home and change. As we sat there in Chili’s, Scott put his arm around me….and again as I sat there and thought about all that was going on….us actually together....sitting across from Martha Margaret and Daniel…it was almost like I was dreaming. Scott was so sweet and polite…he would ask me if I was cold…how my food was…if he could get me anything…this guy was too good to be true!!!!

The rodeo was lots of fun…during the down time Martha Margaret and I talked about how my weekend had gone so far…as Scott and I sat there in the coliseum I was dreaming about where this might go…was he really, REALLY the one??? Could I really know this soon!?!?? I HAD been praying that God would make it quick…and that I would know right away…..
