Time Flies When You're Having Fun (Summer 2012)

WOW! We've had a jam-packed summer!!! I haven't had time to sit and blog all the fun we've had - but I've definitely captured it all on camera! Since I can't slow down time to enjoy these sweet moments with Holston a little longer, I at least try to capture these moments on film to re-enjoy them in my memories.  I take 100's of photos a week to try and log every moment in hopes it will be enough to help me remember these treasured days.  So, now I'll share a few of those pictures from the memories we've made this summer:

MAY...

Holston's First Fair and Carousel Ride:

Scott and I took H to his first Fair in our small Byram community.
He got to ride his first carousel - and loved it!

Second Mother's Day:

My second Mother's day! Somehow I never took a picture with
him on my first Mother's day, so I was sure to get one this year!!

Starkville Dance Recital:
We took a trip to Starkville to see the Wardlaw cousins in their dance recital!
H sat through much of the recital and enjoyed it! The girls did great!

JUNE...

Weekend Trip to Batesville:
The first weekend of June we took a trip to Batesville to celebrate the upcoming birth
of my good friend, Colleen's, first baby!  While we were there, H got to meet a special friend of his for the first time - Houston Scott - born just a few weeks after him!
That same weekend, our cousin Matt just happened to have a baseball game!  We were so excited to get to watch him play.  H watched the game like he knew exactly what was going on!!  Too precious!

Pool time:

One of Scott's good friends, who has a pool and happens to live just a couple miles from us,
offered for us to come swim any time we want!  Of course we took him up on it a couple
afternoons when we had nice weather...and when our busy calendar allowed!
And of course, all pool times have snack breaks (pictured above :)

Second Starkville
Trip:
In June, it was back to Starkville for cousin Ansley's 7th birthday!
This is a picture of us having a blast at her party!

Family Reunion at Lake Tiak-O'khata:

The very next weekend we were back on the road to Lake Tiak-O'khata for a family reunion!
H got to play with his cousins in the lake and enjoyed his first experience digging in the sand!

Proud to be an American:

Getting in the 4th of July spirit with flags and this precious outfit my Mom made for H!
Mom has been busy all summer filling H's closet full of homemade Jon Jons!!!

Mowing the Yard with Daddy:
H got his first ride on the lawn mower with Daddy -
after that "ride" became another word in his growing vocabulary!

First Trip to the Splash Pad:
After much anticipation, we finally got the opportunity to take our first trip to the Splash Pad!
It was definitely a hit with H!  It took him a couple minutes to get the courage to explore on his on, and then he was all about it!  He especially loved the water slide that was just his size -
and that he could go up and down all on his own!

He got so brave on the slide, he even went down belly first - on purpose!

He enjoyed the Splash Pad so much, Mommy got a "Thank you" kiss!!!

Potty Training Preliminaries:

We got H his very own potty.  He loves to practice going potty, and thinks its funny to sit on it.
As you can see, he has made the association with toilet paper and potties - but still not Tee Tee and potties!  :)  We still have plenty time for that....

Annual Kayak Trip:

To wrap up the month of June, Scott and I took our annual kayaking trip
and let H have some quality time with the Berry Grands.
I enjoyed some quality time with the Hubs!
Unfortunately, this is the only picture we took the whole day.

JULY
...

 Still Loving Ou-Si:
H has developed a fascination with the dog pen in our back yard.  He's always begging to go "Ou-Si" and now takes a B-line down the hill and straight to the dog pen!  Scott showed him how to work the door latch.... you see what he does now!  When its time to go inside, he is usually escorted kicking and screaming (literally!)

First Trip to the Zoo:

For our 4th of July holiday, we took H to his first trip to the zoo!
We had so much fun! He really enjoyed watching the animals.

It was a fun family trip, and my first time to the Jackson Zoo too!
Of course it was burning up hot that day, so we cooled off at the Zoo's new addition - another splash pad!  H knew exactly what to do - he went straight for the slide!!!

Of course, no trip to the Jackson Zoo would be complete
without a train ride - and a family picture!

Going to Work with Mommy:

H got to go to work with me on this Friday.  I worked half a day and then we
headed to meet Scott at deer camp for the weekend!

First Weekend at Deer Camp:

The weekend following the 4th of July - Scott took H and I to our new deer camp for the first time.  Once we got to the camp, H got to help Daddy drive.
You should have seen the smile on his face!

Ride!  H's favorite thing to do!  He got plenty ride time this weekend - we rode around with Scott all morning putting out salt.  H fell asleep before we made it back to the cabin!

Fun with Paint:

This summer we've made sure to squeeze in plenty time for art.  Here H is working on a beautiful master piece.  It started off as a finger painting - then he wanted to add a few special touches with the brushes!

Fun in the Tub:

Bath time has been especially fun lately, because H has become fascinated with "pouring".
The table you see is what used to be my spice rack.  After H nearly flooded our bathroom floor "pouring" water into his cups (that were sitting on the side of the tub), Mommy had to quickly come up with a dryer solution!  It worked perfectly and he loved it!

Four-wheelin':

At the beginning of the summer, H got a four-wheeler that he has learned to love!  Although he's about maxed out its claimed weight limit, it still gets him around pretty well.  :)

Cowboy Up:

My Dad built this awesome rocking horse for H's Christmas.  Just in the past few weeks he has started really enjoying it! Isn't he a good looking cowboy!! :)

Third Trip to Starkville:

A couple weeks ago we made our third trip to Starkville to round out the Wardlaw cousins' birthdays, this time for Macey McKay!  Here is H with the birthday girl - she's 4 and he's not even 2.... and he's just as big as she is, if not bigger!  I can tell they're going to be big buddies!!

Here's the cousin foursome at the birthday party - a Gymnastic party, with tons of things to jump on, run on and slide down!  H cackled with laughter throughout the entire party! He had a ball!!!!

Here's H taking his turn in the Foam Pit!  Can you tell he's having fun!!??

The birthday girl shows her strength as she glides over the foam pit on the rope swing!

On our way out of town, we stopped by Mom and Dad's new house site to see the progress!! So exciting!! Its starting to look like a house!!!!!!

Dinosaur Exhibit at the Science Museum:

To wrap up our July, we took H to the Science Museum to the see the new Dinosaur exhibit!  It was very impressive!  We all enjoyed seeing the life-size beasts - and they even moved and growled!

It was no surprise that H went straight for this bin of Styrofoam!!!

The museum also had a special room set up just for the little ones where H got to feed a baby dinosaur and then ride him!!

The children's room also had an awesome tree house with a slide!  With all the practice H has had with slides at the splash pads, he had no fear tackling this one!!!

And finally, this week I've been in Mobile for work - hence the free time I had to actually write this post!  This has been my FIRST time to be away from H more than one night (and I've only been away from him overnight ONE time)!  I've missed my two boys so much, but this trip has given Scott the opportunity to keep H (more than just a few hours) all by himself!  Before I left town, I was sure to set up both our computers with Skype so I could at least see their sweet faces. H has been adorable on Skype (as you can see below), he even kissed the computer screen several times because he was so excited to see me!!  Melts my heart!!!

H got to spend one day this week with MeMe (Scott's mom) and Jake (a Berry cousin, one of Scott's brother's two sons).  She took them to the Children's Museum, and I KNOW he loved it.  Unfortunately, I don't have any pictures from their trip, but I'm so glad he got to go!  Hopefully I'll get to take him back soon!
Scott has been a champion dad this week!  I'm so proud of him, and I can hardly wait to get my arms around both of them!  My heart is full, and I'm overwhelmed with gratitude that God has put these two in my life!!!

Here's to a wonderful Summer 2012 - packed full of cherished memories!!!
In approximately 19 hours I'll be happily speeding heading back to Jackson!  It won't be here soon enough!  Tick...tock...tick...tock.....
