Humble me gently

What an awesome prayer! I got this from a devotional that is emailed to me every day. Too good to not pass on. I need to tape this in the front of my Bible!

Father, the loving and eternal God, thank you for your grace that has forgiven me of my sins. Forgive me of my moments of self-righteous arrogance. Humble me gently till I can see that my righteousness is based on Jesus' perfect gift and not my perfect obedience. Then, dear Father, I ask by the power of your Holy Spirit, that you help conform me more perfectly to the person you want me to be. In Jesus' name. Amen.

Thank you for that! I'll repost it on our blog to spread the wonderful reminder that we really are nothing apart from the Lord. Anything that is even close to being good is JESUS working through us. I love the humble me "gently" part...usually it hurts a bit (just a little ouch) when the Holy Spirit has to prick at my heart. Love you!;)

Hey girl! I just saw your link on Shelley's blog and decided to check it out. I agree with Shelley on her comment, anything that is good within me is Jesus working through me. I am finding out more and more about self-righteousness, pride, etc. Funny how the closer you grow to the Lord how you begin to see more and more areas that just aren't holy in His light. Just makes you realize how dependent you are on HIM! Love you.. and miss seeing you at Bible Study! Danielle
