Wow, how time flies! Since I have last posted I have been swamped at work and haven't had a chance to gather my thoughts! Now finally I can sit down for a few minutes and give you a few more pieces to the puzzle! I can tell keeping this Blog updated is going to be tough! :) But first, yes indeed...he DID survive....my FAMILY REUNION! I bet ten different people came up to Scott at the family reunion and told him about THEIR first experience at the Breazeale family reunion! Surviving the FIRST reunion is a big thing....we should hand out awards!! HA! I was so proud of him...he fit so well with everyone! So I guess its officially official...he survived his FIRST Breazeale family reunion!!! (And by the way...if for some reason you are interested, you can click on the title of this blog entry, "He Survived", to view the Breazeale Family website!)
And now finally, how we met.....CHAPTER 1
January 29 was when I first saw Scott in my 8:00 Singles Sunday School class. I remember walking in that morning, and immediately noticing "we have a new guy." He was so cute...and seemed really quiet...my first impression of him was he was a preppy, frat boy...but kinda shy! Boy was I all wrong...about the preppy, frat boy part!!! :)
Normally, when we have someone new in class I go all out to speak to them and get to know them...but for some reason, I didn't do that with Scott. I guess I was a little intimidated. I sat across the table from him next to another regular in the class and started talking like my typical self. I just happened to be talking about four-wheeler riding that morning and I noticed that Scott tuned in when I mentioned "four-wheeling"! That should have been my first sign!!! We talked briefly before class started and I found out that he lived in BYRAM!! I was thinking...this is WAY too perfect! NO ONE is from Byram...but guess what...I AM!!! Turns out he had been going to Crossgates for 2 years and had just decided to start double-dipping in Sunday School and came to visit our class.
After class we both went to our next Sunday School never knowing if I would see him again! Well, well, well...if I didn't see him as I waited to go into the sanctuary for the 11:00 service!!! He walked right up and said, "Hey!" We both kinda stood their standing like soldiers at attention, shoulder to shoulder, waiting on the greeters to open the sanctuary doors. I guess neither of us knew what to say…but I was sure searching my “cute lines bank” to come up with something but all I could come up with was, “Man, I’m hungry”! And all I got back was a, “I am too!” As the herd of people started moving through the doors we nodded to each other and gave a friendly, “Have a good day”. As I walked down to my right side, second-row seat, I tried to “notice” where he was sitting....left side about 2/3rds the way back!
A few weeks later I got HIS side of the story on that whole coming up and speaking deal! He said he had been thinking about me through his second Sunday School class and was hoping he would see me again...and when he came downstairs he was standing there talking to some guys and noticed me standing over by the sanctuary by myself. He politely excused himself from the group by saying, "There is someone I need to go speak to."
Well, that day after church it just so happened that a group of us got together to go 4-wheeler riding. I rode with Martha Margaret and Daniel out to the place and was telling them about the "new guy in Sunday School". Daniel immediately knew who I was talking about and was so excited. He kept saying that Scott was an awesome guy and that we would be so perfect together. The first thing he told me was "He's a country boy and he drives a BIG TRUCK!!!" ha ha!! That started getting me REALLY excited!!!
That night at church I looked around to see if I noticed him...I was more checking out to see if he was a "Sunday-Night-Guy"...and to my excitement...THERE HE WAS...right side, 2/3rds the way back!!!
The following week I started to ask around to some of the guys that I knew to see what they could tell me about Scott. I found out that he was going to a men's retreat with a bunch of the guys the next weekend. I asked a friend of mine that was going to keep an eye on him and see what he thought about him. Little did I know that on the trip Scott started talking to this guy and "my friend" spilled the beans that I had asked about him...so the cat was out of the bag...Scott knew I had been inquiring!!!
The next Sunday (Feb 5) is when it really got good though!! He came to the singles class again and boy was he looking GOOOOOD that Sunday!!! He had on a dark brown sport coat...mmmm-mmmm-GOOD!! I couldn't help but grin when I walked in and saw him!
That Sunday night, I got to church pretty early and was sitting in my usual seat, right side-second row. I was reading something when all of a sudden I see Scott in the isle at the end of my row. He started down my row...past a few empty seats...past a couple guys...past another empty seat...past me...and then sat down RIGHT BESIDE ME!! I couldn't believe it!! He came all the way down here to sit by me!! We started making small talk and he told me that he had been working on a project at home putting tile in his shower! Can you say HANDY MAN!!! Oh my gosh...this is getting better by the MINUTE!!! Once the service started I looked behind me and a couple rows back were Martha Margaret and Daniel...Martha Margaret grinned and gave me a thumbs up!!
So now that Scott is sitting beside me, I am ready to check him out...to see how he worships...hear him sing...and see if he is a "note-taker"! Check, check, check!!! At this point I am REALLY thinking this is too good to be true!!! After church we walk out together and he said, "We ought to start commuting to church together since we are both from Byram." And of course I said, "Sounds good to me!"....then he replied, "Ok, whats your number and I will call you and see if you want to ride sometime." What a sly move...now he's got my number!!!!
Of course before I even pulled out of the parking lot I called Martha Margaret to tell her that he got my number!!! I immediately started deciding exactly how everything was going to play out, "He wont call me for several days because he will have to play it cool...I don't expect to hear from him at least til Wednesday..but probably not til Thursday." Martha Margaret didnt agree.... "No, he is going to call you TOMORROW night!"....
Ok...thats where Chapter 1 ends....can you tell this is going to be a loooong story!!! Until next time....
